Endometriosis
Endometriosis is by far the most common cause of pelvic pain in women. This pain may occur before or after the menstrual period while it is most prevalent during a woman's monthly cycle. This condition involves the abnormal growth of tissue called the endometrium. This tissue is normally found only on the inside of the uterus. However, this tissue can also be found in other areas such as on the outside of the uterus, the fallopian tubes, the ovaries, the sides and the floor of the pelvis, and rarely, outside of the pelvis.
