Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy
New technology now makes it possible to remove the uterus and/or ovaries through four small incisions in the abdomen. The cervix and its pelvic support ligaments are left intact. This less invasive surgery allows patients to go home the following day. Postoperative pain is significantly less than the more traditional type of hysterectomy. Most patients can return to work in 2 to 3 weeks as opposed to the usual 6 weeks.
